In June we walked in the beautiful countryside round Silchester.  At one point we gained an extra member (photo 1) but she couldn't get through the kissing gate so had to be left behind.  We did have a small amount of rain but that didn't stop us pausing to look at the remains of the Roman amphitheatre (photo 3).  The Calleva Arms was a welcome sight as the rain came down properly just as we reached it.
