Storm Ingrid was forecast for the day and it was raining so we decided to cancel the walk. I went to Sandhurst Memorial Hall in case somebody didn’t get the email. I was thinking that nobody would turn up in the rain but when I arrived five people were there all suited and booted. It was because of this I decided to go ahead with the walk. Going behind the memorial Hall we found a track that followed the river Blackwater. The water was nearly over it’s banks and one part of the bank had collapsed but we managed to navigate the puddles and mud. We saw some ponies and alpacas looking bedraggled. The path then led to the road and after passing the sewage works.
We walked into Sandhurst and crossed the road at the traffic lights. After some pavement walking we came to Wildmoor Nature Reserve. The first part was a board walk followed by a track into some pine woods. Eventually we returned to housing and paths that led back to the Memorial Hall. The walk was enjoyed by all the intrepid ladies. Lella Ranger.
