Our group of seven met in Hartley Wintney on Tuesday 31st March. We were fortunate to have a mild, partly sunny, spring day; in fact, by the end of the walk, jackets had been discarded. We started our walk by crossing the common to Green Lane. We followed the lane for a short distance then took a left turn across a field up to St Mary’s Church where we had lovely views across the countryside. The church has an interesting history, originally built by nuns and now looked after by the Churches Conservation Trust. We then headed along a footpath back to Hartley Wintney passing the cricket ground and took a footpath through the golf course, across the river Hart and out onto Elvetham Lane. We crossed the A30 at Fordingbridge, continuing in the same direction taking a left turn across a footbridge out onto the lane. We turned left then right onto Hares Lane which took us back to Hartley Wintney.
