Virginia Waters Walk - February 2026

We were blessed with good weather for our stroll around Virginia Water in fact we got quite warm towards the end. The paths were quite dry apart from one or two small patches. It was lovely to see some of the rhododendrons spectacularly in bloom. We were also pleased to see daffodils and other flowers up and about. We walked past the cascades that did have a fair amount of water coming over them, then past my Leptis Magna columns where I gave my usual quick talk as requested by our leader. As we journeyed around the lake we met lots of others enjoying their walk including two dads pushing their daughters at high speed. We over took them later when the little ones decided that they wanted to walk themselves. Our banana break took place at the top of the heather garden where we observed students collecting insects for their studies. Apparently they will we returned. We then headed down past the totem pole and then went into the Wheatsheaf where we partook of a very reasonably priced lunch deal.

Many thanks to Anne Cleary for leading the walk.
